What Is Kaal Sarp Puja?
In Vedic astrology, Kaal Sarp dosh is said to occur when all planets sit between Rahu and Ketu. Devotees perform a specific ritual at Trimbakeshwar to seek relief. Narayan Nagbali is a separate, longer ritual for ancestral peace (pitru dosh). Both are done at the Godavari river bank near the temple, not inside the main sanctum.
How Long Does It Take?
- Kaal Sarp puja: typically 2–3 hours including preparation
- Narayan Nagbali: can take a full day (3 days in some traditions)
Most Pune visitors do Kaal Sarp as a same-day trip: leave early, reach by 8–9 AM, complete puja by afternoon, return evening. Narayan Nagbali usually needs an overnight stay.
Best Days to Book

After Darshan
Many families also visit the main Jyotirlinga temple and the Kushavarta kund (source of the Godavari). Nashik city is 30 km away if you want lunch or wine-country sightseeing on the return leg.
