Thursday at Shirdi is special — and crowded. Sai Baba devotees from across Maharashtra arrive for the weekly aarti and darshan, and our Pune–Shirdi cabs run almost every Thursday morning. Here is what we tell families before they go.
Why Thursday Is Busier
Many devotees treat Thursday as Baba's day. The temple opens early, but queues build from sunrise. If you want a relatively calm darshan, reach before 7 AM. After 9 AM on a Thursday, expect 1–2 hours in the main queue during peak season.
When to Leave Pune
Shirdi is about 190 km from Pune — roughly 3.5–4 hours one way. For a same-day Thursday trip, leave Pune by 4:30–5:00 AM. That gives you time for darshan, prasad, and a return before late evening. Families with elders often prefer leaving Wednesday evening, staying overnight near the temple, and doing darshan at dawn.

What to Expect at the Temple
- Samadhi Mandir: main darshan — longest queue on Thursdays
- Dwarkamai and Chavadi: usually quicker; worth visiting after main darshan
- Prasad: available near the temple; cash is handy for small purchases
Footwear is not allowed inside the main complex — our driver can wait with your bags in the cab.
Same-Day vs Overnight
Same-day: works if you leave very early and are okay with a long day (8+ hours on the road). Overnight: more relaxed — check into a hotel Wednesday night, darshan Thursday morning, return Thursday afternoon. We can wait or come back the next day; just mention it when booking.
Combine with Other Pilgrimage Stops
Some devotees add Shani Shingnapur (about 70 km from Shirdi) on the return leg. Ask us when booking and we'll plan the route.
